More than 100,000 faithful gathered in San Cristóbal de las Casas and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, in Chiapas, to welcome Pope Francis in the midst of a colorful atmosphere, marked by songs of peace and harmony.

Accompanied by state Gov. Manuel Velasco Coello, the pope said, “It is good to be on this land, which with your presence has the taste of family, of home.”

Pope Francis didn’t limit himself when showing his enthusiasm for the presence of the state population. He kissed and hugged many people and delivered blessings to children, the elderly and the faithful who managed to approach him.

Every location visited by the pope in Chiapas was crowded by thousands of faithful Catholics who hoped to witness the message delivered by the Supreme Pontiff. The Víctor Manuel Reyna Stadium was one of the locations where the most people gathered, numbering in the tens of thousands.
